I wanted to share this cartoon by Fougasse. It was published in Punch, or the London Charivari in 1925. 99 years later it’s still relevant.
I’ve been dreading writing a follow-up to my latest newsletter. The Tibi Style Class piece sparked a conversation I didn’t quite anticipate. It also brought on a flood of new subscribers. That was a month ago. I have a tendency to self-sabotage when faced with an opportunity to speak to a larger audience, but I honestly didn’t know what to write about next. I still don’t.
I took a break from writing and signed a lease on a new store. I am currently in the process of having a moving sale, re-branding my vintage shop, and building the new brick-and-mortar. It’s a lot of work, and as you can probably imagine, I am preoccupied with everything that’s going on. I’ll be back soon, though, I promise.
Thank you for your patience and understanding!

Hello! I didn't subscribe last month but this week I am finishing reading all your posts chronologically. What a delight your writing is, as your perspective! It's inspiring reading someone writing about clothes decoupled from wealth and consumerism. I am poor and secondhand shopping is what made brands more expensive than zara available to me. And this brought back my love for clothes, which I felt as a young person looking at CD booklets or when it was time to study daily life in History class, but stopped feeling on social media days. This to say, your vision reaches me through your writing and I connect with your perspective. Whatever what you decide to write about next, I know it will make me reflect. You are appreciated here! Have a good Sunday 😊
Scriptwriters write the movie they want to see. You can write what you would want to read. ❤️
